Our story

We made the invisible visible.

ISpyNits began at a kitchen sink in Aotearoa New Zealand — with one fed-up mum, a head full of questions, and a hunch that the whole approach to lice was missing a step. Here's how a little glow changed everything.

How it started

It started with a sink full of frustration

Like a lot of families, ours got caught in the lice cycle — the dreaded note home from school, the late-night supermarket dash, the harsh-smelling bottle, the comb-through, the crossed fingers. Then, a week later, the itch was back and we'd start the whole thing over again.

What got to our founder, a Kiwi mum, wasn't just the hassle. It was the guesswork. You'd treat blind, never quite sure if you'd got them all, never sure if it had even worked. And underneath it all sat the quiet shame — the whispering, the blame, the feeling that lice meant you'd somehow done something wrong.

"We were treating something we couldn't even see. The missing step wasn't a stronger chemical — it was simply being able to spot them."

That was the lightbulb moment. Lice eggs are tiny, pale and glued tight to the hair — almost impossible to see by eye. But under the right UV light, the right formula makes them glow. So she developed a gentle, gentle Glo-Powder that lights the eggs up bright, paired it with a fragrance-free lice lotion to clear them, and suddenly the whole stressful ritual turned into something you could actually see, manage — and even have a bit of fun with.

The big idea

A whole new category: identification

For decades, lice care meant one thing: treat, and hope. We added the step everyone skipped — seeing the eggs first — and turned blind guesswork into a clear, confident routine. That's identification-led lice care.

1

Spot, don't guess

You can't fight what you can't find. UV Glo-Powder reveals exactly where the eggs are hiding, so you treat with certainty — not crossed fingers.

2

Treat what's there

Once you can see them, our gentle, fragrance-free lice lotion kills the live lice. No harsh fumes, no overtreating, no nasties on little scalps.

3

Recheck with confidence

Glow again a few days later to know they're truly gone. Catching outbreaks early means fewer rounds — and far less stress.

Meet Nora

Chief Glow Officer

Nora is our friendly nit — the brave little face of the spot-first movement. Turning the "enemy" into a cheeky, glowing character does something powerful: it takes the fear and the ick out of the whole experience.

  • Kids stop squirming and start spotting — checking heads becomes a game, not a battle.
  • She makes a stigmatised topic friendly, so families talk about lice openly instead of hiding it.
  • She's the perfect classroom guide for our STEM sessions — science you can see, led by a character kids adore.
