UV Glo-Powder spots the eggs you can't normally see — now in pharmacies across NZ & Australia ✦ Gentle & insecticide-free
How it works

See them first.
Then beat them.

Lice hide. Eggs hide better. ISpyNits flips the whole battle around: make the hidden ones glow under UV light, treat exactly where they are, then recheck to be sure. Smarter than guessing — and a lot less stressful.

The three-step method

Glow. Treat. Relax.

The same simple routine the whole family can follow — here's exactly what happens at each step, and why it works.

Step 1 · Spot Glo-Powder dusted on dry hair, lice eggs glowing bright green under UV light
1 UV Glo-Powder

Glow & Spot

Dust a light coat of Glo-Powder over dry hair, work it through, then switch on the UV light in a dimmed room. Nits and eggs that are invisible in ordinary light suddenly light up bright green — so you can see exactly how many there are and precisely where they're clinging to the hair shaft.

  • Reveals tiny eggs the naked eye routinely misses
  • Turns "is it actually lice?" into a clear yes or no
  • Kids love the spy-mission glow — checking becomes a game
Step 2 · Treat Fragrance-free lice lotion applied to a child's hair where eggs were spotted
2 Fragrance-Free Lice Lotion

Treat & Remove

Now that you can see them, treat. Spray the fragrance-free lice lotion through the hair — it kills live lice — then comb it through section by section with a fine-tooth comb to lift out the eggs. It's insecticide-free and gentle on little scalps, with no sting and no harsh fumes, so you can leave it in to keep working or rinse out after 20 minutes.

  • No sting, no smell, no nasties — kind to sensitive scalps
  • Insecticide-free and gentle for the whole family
  • Comb-through removes loosened lice and eggs you spotted
Step 3 · Recheck Nora the nit mascot glowing — rechecking with UV light after treatment
3 Confirm & prevent

Recheck & Relax

A few days later, glow again. Because lice eggs hatch on a cycle, a quick re-scan catches any stragglers before they can take hold — so you treat once, confirm it worked, and stop a small problem becoming a recurring one. Pop a UV check into the family routine and you'll catch the next outbreak early, too.

  • Confirms treatment actually worked — real peace of mind
  • Catches newly-hatched stragglers before they spread
  • Regular quick checks mean fewer surprises down the track
The science

Why UV detection works

Head-lice eggs are tiny, pale and glued tight to the hair shaft, which is exactly why they're so easy to miss in ordinary light — they blend in with hair and can look just like flakes of dandruff. The traditional approach is to treat blindly and hope, then wonder a week later whether it actually worked.

ISpyNits adds the step everyone skips: seeing them first. The Glo-Powder settles onto hair and clings to eggs and nits, and under UV (black) light it fluoresces — re-emitting that energy as a bright green glow your eye can pick out instantly. Dimming the room makes the contrast unmistakable, so what was hidden becomes obvious.

Spotting first changes everything that follows:

  • You catch what the eye misses. Faint, early-stage eggs light up clearly instead of being overlooked.
  • You treat where it counts. Knowing exactly where the eggs are means a thorough, targeted comb-through — not guesswork.
  • You can confirm it's done. A second glow tells you whether you got them all, so you're not left wondering.

It's a simple idea with a big payoff: identify, then act. No overclaiming, no magic — just making the invisible visible so families can deal with lice calmly and confidently.

Lights off. Eggs on.

Under UV light the Glo-Powder makes hidden eggs fluoresce bright green — the same trick that makes a highlighter pop under a black light, put to work on your kid's scalp.

How to use your NitKit

Everything you need to spot, treat and recheck — in one tidy box. Here's the full routine.

Start with dry hair

Work on clean, dry, detangled hair in a room you can dim. No need to wet it down first.

Dust on the Glo-Powder

Apply a light, even coat and gently massage it through from roots to tips so it reaches the hair shafts.

Shine the UV light & spot

Dim the room and run the UV light over the head in sections. Eggs and nits glow bright green — note where they are.

Spray the lice lotion

Apply the fragrance-free lice lotion, focusing on the areas you spotted, and leave it as directed on the label.

Comb through

Work a fine-tooth comb through section by section to lift out lice and eggs. Leave the lotion in to keep working, or rinse after 20 minutes.

Recheck in a few days

Repeat the glow step to confirm they're gone and catch any newly-hatched stragglers early.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Is it safe for kids?
Yes — ISpyNits was created by a mum specifically for children. It's gentle, insecticide-free and fragrance-free, with no sting, so it's gentle on sensitive little scalps. As with any hair product, use it on hair and scalp only and follow the directions on the label.
How is this different from normal lice treatment?
Most treatments skip straight to treating and leave you guessing whether it worked. ISpyNits adds the detection step first: the UV Glo-Powder makes hidden eggs glow bright green so you can actually see them, treat exactly where they are, and confirm with a recheck. It's also insecticide-free, which matters as lice increasingly resist older insecticide-based products.
Will the glow wash out?
Yes. The Glo-Powder is designed to brush and wash out easily — it's there to help you spot the eggs, not to stay in the hair. A normal wash removes it, and the comb-through and rinse during treatment clear it away too.
How often should I check?
After treating, recheck a few days later to catch any newly-hatched stragglers, then again about a week on to be sure. As a preventative habit, a quick UV glow-check every week or two during the school term helps you catch a new outbreak early — when it's easiest to deal with.
